Trágmar - Name

The name "Trágmar Ale Works" is inspired by Celtic mythology, particularly the figure Tuirbe (Turvey) Trágmar. Known as the thrower of axes, Trágmar’s magical axe was said to hold back the sea when cast onto the strand. He is part of the legendary Tuatha Dé Danann, a mythical race of gods and goddesses linked to skills, arts, and magic.

Our LOGO

Our logo represents Tuirbe (Turvey) Trágmar's Magical Axe & within the axe we incorporated some additional elements:

  • Between the Axe blades is a Celtic Shield Knot, symbolizing protection against bad luck and evil.

  • Above the Axe is a Celtic Crown symbolizing loyalty.

  • Along the Axe blade, the strokes spell out the word 'Trágmar' in Ogham (Ow-um). Ogham is the earliest written form of Primitive Irish, the oldest of the Gaelic languages.

  • At the base of the Axe handle is a Hop Cone, representing the craft of beer making.
